I heard Brett Scott speak at the Global Currency Forum in May and found his views on cash and payments thought provoking. In this recent podcast, he highlights the relationship between payment systems and power, who benefits from the move to cashless payments and the role of cash in a resilient, multi- payment method economies. Ultimately he makes the case for the existence of cash despite more convenient payment methods, however who is responsible to assure the existence is left open.
