The Reserve Bank of Malawi has the full mandate to conduct monetary policy in Malawi. The Bank plays a key role in aligning fiscal and monetary developments to ensure macroeconomic stability in the country. The Bank also has the sole right of issuing Malawi Kwacha banknotes and coins throughout Malawi – a responsibility assigned to its Currency Management Department.
