Centered on the design concept of “Dialogue between Antiquity and the Present”, the coin features civil and martial instrumental ensembles of Peking Opera on its obverse and dual-era Dan-style opera figures on its reverse, facilitating the creative transformation and innovative development of fine traditional Chinese culture. The obverse selects core musical instruments of Peking Opera, namely three key civil-string instruments for the civil ensemble and three core percussion instruments for the martial ensemble. In line with instrument contours and overall compositional layout, designers separate Ya Ban (clapper)、Ban Gu (wooden drum) to deliver well-layered patterns and complete thematic expression. The civil trio constitutes the melodic core of Peking Opera, while the martial percussion set dominates onstage rhythm. The six instruments collectively illustrate the full musical framework of Peking Opera and achieve perfect integration of traditional cultural symbols and contemporary numismatic aesthetics.The reverse adopts a side-by-side composition to highlight the core theme of “Dialogue between Antiquity and the Present”. The left motif is reproduced from the Qing-dynasty Shengpingshu Opera Character Album, faithfully restoring stylized features of early Dan performers with cheerful facial expressions and elegant bearing.
The right side features a bust of a modern Peking Opera Dan role, which inherits classic stylized patterns while incorporating contemporary aesthetics to highlight vivid facial charm and facial features. The paired layout enables a cross-200-year artistic dialogue of Peking Opera on one coin surface, merging classical and modern formative styles and unfolding profound cultural connotations within the limited metallic space.Building upon proven mature anti-counterfeiting technologies including variable density reeded edges, latent images and microlettering, the coin pioneers high-speed colour inkjet printing craftsmanship.
