The RollingStar® Venus security thread is a breakthrough security feature which uses advanced nanotechnology to color specific micro-mirrors an additional color, incorporates micro-mirrors for dynamic optical effects, and employs thin-film ColorShift™ technology for the basic color, setting a new benchmark in anti-counterfeiting and public authentication. To celebrate 25 years of monetary independence, the National Bank of Tajikistan has issued the world’s first banknote featuring the innovative RollingStar® Venus security thread—the 100 somoni commemorative note is featured as an example.
At first glance, the thread appears as a striking band of violet and orange. When tilted, it reveals sophisticated visual effects: the central window displays a Color MotifFlip® effect, where the orange denomination ‘100’ seamlessly transforms into the Cyrillic letters ‘БМТ’ (National Bank of Tajikistan), while the two side windows showcase a ColorFlip® effect with distinct Tajik patterns. These effects are achieved through precise control over color and motif at the micrometer level, ensuring memorable, intuitive authentication for the public.
The advanced registered embedding and brilliant visual dynamics of RollingStar® Venus, which are visible even under challenging lighting conditions, ensure both rapid public authentication and a significant boost in security. Combined with robust materials and next-generation magnetic encoding, this technology makes counterfeiting extremely difficult and enhances the banknote’s prestige.

RollingStar® Venus security threads significantly enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, security, and resilience of banknotes and secure documents. Environmental Impact
The RollingStar® Venus security thread can be produced on film made from 70% recycled PET. Manufacturing this thread from recycled plastic does not change the production process, so no additional steps or energy are necessary. Rather, it saves a significant amount of virgin plastic material and thus reduces carbon emissions. All the electricity needed to produce this thread comes from 100% renewable sources.
