Project Description
RollingStar® Venus threads are cutting-edge security features for banknotes and secure documents. They address the growing risk of counterfeiting, which has become more prevalent as traditional color-shifting threads have become more widespread and less distinctive. While current two-color solutions based on lens technology primarily provide decorative effects with limited security, RollingStar® Venus offers a new level of protection through advanced nanotechnology combined with micro-mirrors and thin-film ColorShiftTM effects.
The ColorFlip® effect creates a dynamic, vivid color change when the banknote is tilted, while the Color MotifFlip® effect delivers a simultaneous, striking change of both color and motif within the same area. RollingStar® Venus sets a new standard by combining two precisely defined colors and advanced optical effects, powered by innovative nanotechnology and thin-film technology. These unique features are achieved through precisely positioned colors along specific sections of the thread, enabling revolutionary control over visual dynamics and coloration down to the micrometer level. As a result, the threads are highly memorable, significantly boost public recognition, and greatly increase anti-counterfeiting protection, making counterfeiting extremely difficult. The Micromirror technology provides brilliant, visible dynamic effects under all lighting conditions, and the metallic gloss enhances the perceived value of documents.
RollingStar® Venus threads support fundamental thread properties such as customizable clear text, durable embedding in paper, and application of the next generation of magnetic encoding (MultiCode™). RollingStar® Venus threads are coated with adhesive on both sides for perfect bonding to the substrate. For even better perception a registered embedding is also possible.
I understand that I will be required to provide displays of the note (according to IACA’s specs ) for voting at the Banknote Conference
Design Theme
The design of the RollingStar® Venus “Piano” House Note celebrates the emotional power of music and the moment when anticipation transforms into expression. It captures a live concert not as a static scene, but as an unfolding experience – where light and movement work together.
On the front, the viewer is drawn into the decisive moment of the performance. A pianist in a golden dress sits illuminated by three spotlights, poised at the piano as she plays the first notes.
The registered security thread is precisely aligned within these spotlights — a highly visible placement of light. Instead of appearing as a technical element, the thread becomes the brightest focal point of the composition, naturally attracting attention and guiding the eye.
When the note is tilted, the RollingStar® Venus security thread animates like a melody in motion. The middle window reveals the novel Color Motif Flip® effect, where the banknote’s denomination “100” transforms into a musical note. The two outer windows feature the ColorFlip® effect, which illustrates the dynamics of light with radiating color shifts that echo the changing intensity of the stage’s spotlights. This layered animation enables intuitive authentication through simple movement.
Above the pianist, the chandelier watermark continues the narrative through light. Usually hidden within the paper, the watermark emerges only when the note is held up to the light. This mirrors the grand chandeliers of the concert hall that illuminate the stage. The watermark serves as a subtle, elegant, and unmistakable counterpoint to the dynamic thread.
Together, spotlight placement, dynamic thread effects, and the chandelier watermark form a cohesive story — where motion, light and dynamics becomes proof, and security is an integral part of the concert experience.
Integration of Security Features
RollingStar® Venus threads add security by means of novel nanotechnology and provide completely new dynamic effects for secure authentication. As the latest addition to the RollingStar® family, they maintain all security properties while incorporating advanced nanotechnology. This Piano note features both ColorFlip® and Color MotifFlip® in precisely positioned colors along specific sections of the registered thread. When the banknote is tilted, it creates a dynamic ColorFlip® effect. This effect delivers revolutionary control over the thread’s visual dynamics and coloration in every single micrometer.
And with Color MotifFlip®, it changes the “100” to a musical note. This effect provides a striking change of color and motif in the same area. It enhances recognition and significantly boosts security.
Other Aspects
– RollingStar® Venus provides optimal visibility in challenging lighting conditions. The technology ensures superior visibility across various lighting conditions. With micromirror technology that reflects up to 90% of light and a metallic surface finish, it stands out in terms of brilliance and clarity, and captures the users’ attention with the second color.
– Individual demetallized designs. Demetallized text (ClearText) is available for RollingStar® Venus security threads to create customized designs, including denomination or country-specific elements. Therefore, additional security is provided by showing different information in reflected and transmitted light.
– Level 2 features. Even more secure when combined with machine-readable Level 2 features. That’s why RollingStar® Venus incorporates magnetic coding for high-level machine readability and can be equipped with fluorescence as well.
