High-resolution colour camera system – industry leading fitness sorting

Product Owner: Cash Processing Solutions (CPS)

Description

The high-resolution colour cameras with encoders from CPS, launched in 2017, is the industry’s superior image
detection system for high-seed sorters, providing the highest levels of accuracy and repeatability in fitness sorting.

Launched by CPS in May 2017. The cameras have been installed into a european central bank in Autumn 2017.

Innovation

Our new cameras are a step-change in the quality of banknote imaging available in the high-speed sorter market.
Our superior image detection system provides the highest levels of accuracy and repeatability in fitness sorting in
the industry.

Uniqueness

These new cameras, only available on CPS high-speed sorters, is the only camera system to have an image
resolution of 150 dpi as standard – the highest resolution in the industry for high-speed sorting machines. Imaging
up to 200dpi is available as an option.

Full colour imaging is enabled through our sophisticated transport design with inertial corners providing a full,
unobstructed view of the banknote, not achieved through other transport designs.

Superior matching of fitness measurement.
Sequil™, CPS patented multi-dimensional soil processing, is enabled by the full face, full colour imaging cameras
leading to superior fitness sorting.

Defects including stains, graffiti and ink wear to be detected in greater detail
This results in more accurate fitness sorting decisions, ensuring that clean note policy is optimised across the cash
cycle.

Differentiation of new feature, product, or innovation from existing ones

Our high-resolution colour cameras provide the best quality images of banknotes of any high-speed sorters in the
market.

The cameras acquire full face, high-resolution colour plus infrared (IR) images. This allows applications such as IR
authentication and serial number reading (OCR) to be performed on the same camera as RGB imaging, and at
high resolution.

Increased Efficiency, Safety or Environmental Protection

Speed and processing power are de-conflicted
The 7000i can run at top speed (2000 banknotes per minute) while still achieving a high-resolution at 150dpi in the image detection system, optimising efficiency whilst ensuring accuracy in fitness sorting. This includes with additional functionality including IR imaging.

Important Improvement

Our new cameras are a step-change in the quality of banknote imaging available in the high-speed sorter market.
Our superior image detection system provides the highest levels of accuracy and repeatability in fitness sorting in the industry.

Better data analysis
The higher quality imaging and increased level of data collected by the cameras enable more detailed and accurate
data analysis to be carried out on banknote performance, banknote life and clean note policy compliance. This enables central banks to optimise the design and specification of future banknotes in order to optimise their performance in circulation, as well as better audit compliance to clean note policy.

Reduced reject rates due to more accurate banknote classification
Incorporating reflective IR and RGB imaging onto one camera enables better denomination and series classification on highly soiled banknotes. IR is not as affected by soiling as RGB imaging, dramatically reducing the number of banknotes sent to the reject pocket for this reason, thereby increasing productivity.

No extension module for OCR
OCR as well as denomination classification and fitness can now be done on the same cameras at the same time, eliminating the need for an extension module.
