Banknote Description
In honour of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan obtaining the status of permanent neutrality from the UN on 12 December 1995, the Central Bank has introduced into circulation converted polymer banknotes in denominations of 1, 5, and 10 Manat, as well as a new polymer banknote with a denomination of 200 Manat, effective from 1 December 2025—a year held under the motto “The International Year of Peace and Trust.”
The 200 Manat banknote was issued in limited quantities to commemorate this occasion and to introduce a new high denomination. The commemorative logo is printed in intaglio on the front of the banknote.
Innovation and unique aspects
The 200 Manat note introduces a striking window design showcasing an optical security stripe which is visible on both sides, allowing dual-sided authentication. At the top of the stripe, the SPOTLIGHT® feature displays two octograms that float in opposite directions when tilted. The center of the stripe highlights the Arkadag monument, surrounded by dynamic PUREIMAGE™ animated colour effects. At the bottom, the crescent and octograms exhibit an achromatic colour shift between silver and black when moved, delivering a visually captivating and highly secure experience. The numeral denomination 200 appears in relief, when tilting the note, a ray of light moves upward inside the digits and the colour of the design shifts from green to blue.
Overall integration of Features
As a new high value commemorative banknote, the strategy was to incorporate features consistent with the existing lower paper denominations, while leveraging the enhanced security offered by the polymer substrate. The holographic and SPARK® elements are visible on both sides, ensuring balanced security across the front and back of the note.
The design integration connects the Arkadag monument through the intaglio vignette of the statue on the front, complemented by the central image in the stripe and the SPARK® flow that run across both sides of the banknote with the monument visible on the reverse of the banknote (in a secondary window).
Highlights an event
Turkmenistan was granted the status of permanent neutrality by the United Nations on 12 December 1995. To mark the 30th anniversary of this milestone, Turkmenistan requested that the UN designate the year 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, incorporating the official logo featuring the Turkmen‑language inscription of the motto, along with symbolic elements such as the dove and Turkmen flag.
