This limited edition One-Dollar glow-in-the-dark circulation coin, produced by the Royal Canadian Mint’s Winnipeg facility, was launched during a Central Bank of Barbados’s event to recognise and celebrate the Essential Workers of Barbados.
It celebrated all Barbadians locally and across the globe, who during the darkest hours of the COVID 19 pandemic, were lights bringing hope and goodwill to all.
During this event, essential workers were recognized for their hard work, sacrifices, unity and pride during their Covid-19 challenges with a vibrant pre-packaged glow-in the dark coin.
The iconic One-Dollar Flying Fish coin, featuring the Mint’s proprietary photoluminescent pad printing technology, was created to shine bright as a symbolic representation of who Bajans are; bright souls who make sacrifices to light the way as one united nation to overcome pandemic struggles.
